What could I use my student loan for?

I am starting college in a few weeks and I applied for financial aid and got that and a subsidized student loan. The financial aid paid for all of my courses and my books so I still have my loan left and a little of financial aid. With using the student loan, would I be able to purchase a computer with it for my online courses? When will I receive my student loan and how would it most likely be disbursed? I have one computer at home but was looking to purchase a second one, specifically just for schooling.
